BUCKHANNON – A Pennsylvania man was arrested after allegedly conducting a drug deal in the Buckhannon Lowe’s parking lot involving what police believe was more than $47,000 worth of methamphetamine.
Sean Adams, 32, of Philadelphia, was arrested for transporting methamphetamine into the State of West Virginia and delivery of methamphetamine, both felonies.
According to the criminal complaint in the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk’s Office filed by investigating officer Cpl. Marshall O’Connor with the Mountain Lakes Drug and Violent Crime Unit and the Buckhannon Police Department, on Wednesday, March 10, officers with the Mountain Lakes Drug and Violent Crime Unit, the Mountain Region Drug and Violent Crime Unit, and the Buckhannon Police Department received information regarding a drug deal that was reportedly scheduled to occur in the Lowe’s parking lot in Buckhannon.
O’Connor and other officers used a surveillance unit to observe the drug transaction. The police report says surveillance footage showed Adams driving a 2020 Dodge Ram Rebel into the Lowe’s parking lot and parking next to a white Ford Ranger. The file alleges the individual in the Ranger handed a red bag to Adams, who, in turn, handed a black bag to the individual in the Ford Ranger.
O’Connor then “initiated a takedown” of Adams and the other individual, the complaint says. Inside the white Ford Ranger, officers reportedly found a black bag allegedly containing one pound and 25 grams of meth. In the black Dodge Ram, they allegedly found a “large amount of tootsie roll-sized” THC edibles, a red bag containing about $8,000 and an additional $6,000 in cash in other various locations in the vehicle.
The total amount of methamphetamine when sold by grams is $47,900, the file says.
Bail was set at $75,000 cash only.
The penalty for a conviction of transporting methamphetamine into West Virginia is confinement in the state correctional facility for not less than one year nor more than 15 years or a fine of up to $25,000 or both. The penalty for a conviction of delivery of methamphetamine is confinement in the state correctional facility for not less than one year nor more than 15 years or a fine of not more than $25,000 or both.
