BUCKHANNON, WV – On Friday, the President of West Virginia Wesleyan College (WVWC) announced that two senior leaders at the College are taking on new roles to further expand WVWC’s student engagement services. Alison Whitehair is now the Chief Student Development Officer and Title IX Coordinator and Alisa Lively will now serve as the Dean of Students at West Virginia Wesleyan.

“Both of these outstanding individuals will elevate Wesleyan’s ability to serve our students,” said WVWC President Joel Thierstein, J.D., Ph.D. 

“Alison brings a high level of organization and a deep understanding of student development that will serve our students well as they pursue their education here at Wesleyan,” Thierstein said. 

Thierstein also shared his support of Lively in her new role as Dean of Students.

“With over 30 years of experience, Alisa is a pillar of the institution,” Thierstein said. “Her exceptional ability to work with the students in a wide variety of circumstances will serve our students and the College well in this new role.”

Whitehair will oversee a host of student-focused services, including Campus Life, the Center for Community Engagement and Leadership (CCE) and the Student Success Center. She will also be the Title IX Coordinator and oversee health care services, including Counseling Services and serve as the liaison with Community Care of West Virginia.

“Student success is at the very core of who we are at West Virginia Wesleyan,” Whitehair said.

As Dean of Students, Lively will lead Campus Life, including Housing and Residence Life, Student Programming, Outdoor Recreation, the Wellness Center, Student Conduct, Commuter Students, Conference Services and  Student Senate.

“Our students are the life-line of West Virginia Wesleyan and as Dean of Students I look forward to doing my part to make their Wesleyan experience a success and prepare them for the future,” Lively said.
