A update from Terry Cutright on the Upshur County Courthouse reopening

On behalf of the Upshur County Commission, I would like to provide residents with an update regarding county operations at the Courthouse and other County owned and operated facilities.

On September 7, 2020, the Courthouse, Annex and Administrative Annex closed to non-essential business after four employees received positive COVID-19 test results. No additional county employees have tested positive or experienced symptoms of COVID-19.

COVID-19 has a 14-day incubation period which will expire for the courthouse-related cases on Sunday, September 20.

After monitoring the situation, receiving feedback from Elected Officials and maintaining regular contact with local health officials, the Commission will open the Courthouse and Annex to the public, during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning Monday, September 21, 2020.

Handling business online or via telephone is still highly encouraged. If you choose to visit the Courthouse, Court Security Officers will respectfully decline your access to the facility if you are showing signs or symptoms of COVID-19.

Per the Governor’s Mask Mandate, effective July 7, 2020, face coverings are required for the public while inside any county owned or managed facility.
