West Virginia Office of Energy issues reminder about grant application deadline

The West Virginia Office of Energy is reminding local governments and rural nonprofits that applications for energy efficiency and conservation grant funding remain open until August 15, with millions still available for projects statewide.

The West Virginia Office of Energy (WVOE) announced today that its current round of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funding is well underway, with many local governments and nonprofits already applying to advance energy-saving projects across the state.

“We’ve been seeing great momentum over the course of this program, with communities taking proactive steps to lower energy costs and improve building performance,” says Jackson Igo, Energy Programs Coordinator for the Office of Energy. “While we’re excited to see strong interest in this round so far, we also want to remind organizations that funding is still available.”

In total, the WVOE plans to offer 35 sub-grants up to $37,000 to local governments and 14 sub-grants up to $25,000 to rural community-serving nonprofits through federal support from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of State and Community Energy Programs. Since the launch of this program in August of last year, 57 projects statewide have already been selected to receive funding for initiatives such as HVAC upgrades, weatherization, lighting improvements, and window replacements.

The deadline to apply for this round of funding is August 15, 2025. Organizations can review program details, eligibility requirements, and application instructions on the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant page of the WVOE’s website. Completed applications or questions may be submitted to the Office of Energy’s main email, wvoeinfo@wv.gov.
