Buckhannon Community Theatre is thrilled to announce its production of the beloved musical “Willy Wonka,” taking place at the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts at West Virginia Wesleyan College. The show will run from August 1-4, 2024, with evening performances on Thursday through Saturday at 7 PM and matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM.

“Willy Wonka” is a whimsical musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s timeless story, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” The tale follows the enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka, who stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his delicious candy bars. The winners of these tickets are granted a once-in-a-lifetime tour of Wonka’s mysterious factory, which is filled with fantastical inventions and peculiar characters. The story explores themes of honesty, loyalty and the importance of family, all wrapped up in a world of pure imagination.

The production stars Bryce O’Loughlin as Willy Wonka and Thomas Loudin as Charlie Bucket, with Dannie Stiles, Julian Green, Katie Loudin, Riley Potter, Lauren Stott, Spencer Mearns, Leah Propst, Abby Benjamin, Matt Stott, Abigail Benjamin and Shane Vassar rounding out the talented cast. Caleb Waybright directs this enchanting production, with music direction by BJ Hoffman, assistant direction by Matoula Hartley and choreography by Zoë Payne.

Tickets for “Willy Wonka” are priced at $15 and can be purchased online, at the Buckhannon Chamber and Visitor Center, Salon 88 or at the box office.
