Thelma Jeanette White

Thelma Jeanette White, age 88, of Volga, WV, died Thursday, August 31, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born August 14, 1935, in Webster Springs, WV, a daughter of the late Raymond Dalton and Bessie “Ruth” Skidmore Gillespie.

On June 29, 1956, she married Curtis White, who survives of Volga. In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter Belenda Sandy of Volga, two sons, Stacy White and wife Tonya of Volga and Nathan White of SC; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Kelley of SC, three granddaughters, Chrissy Sandy of Buckhannon as well as Melanie Gillum and husband Ryan, and Madison  White of Volga; one grandson, Stephan Sandy of Buckhannon; two great-grandsons, Jordan Gillum and Koan Runk both of Buckhannon; five great-granddaughters, Channing Gillum, Kiya Gillum and Nadia  Dean all of Buckhannon, Halie Green of WV and Miranda Kittle of SC; one great-great-granddaughter Amoriana Dezarn of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bradley  White, one infant grandchild, one great-granddaughter, Kasey Gillum; three infant great-grandchildren, two brothers, Sylvester Paul and Larry Robert Gillespie; one sister, Judy Ellen Bender;  one son-in-law, Robert Dennis “Denny” Sandy. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to WV Caring Hospice Staff for their loving care of Thelma.

She was a published author of a Book “The Pentateuch Acts and   Revelation”. She enjoyed cooking, playing computer games, exploring, and documenting genealogies. In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker she upholstered furniture for 18 years. She was a member of the South Buckhannon Mission Church and since the age of 16 she has dedicated her time to many by sharing her love of Jesus Christ.

Friends were received Monday, September 4, 2023, from 11 AM until 1 PM at the South Buckhannon Mission Church. A funeral service was held at 1 PM at the church with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. In honoring Mrs. White’s wishes she will be cremated following the services.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to WV Caring Hospice or Charity of your choice.
