WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital celebrates National Nurses and Hospital Week

BUCKHANNON, WV – WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital is celebrating National Nurses and Hospital Week May 6-13 with a variety of activities and events honoring nursing and hospital staff. 

Buckhannon Mayor Robert Neal Skinner, III signed a proclamation declaring May 6-13, 2023 to be National Nurses and National Hospital Week in Buckhannon, urging residents to express their appreciation for WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and its staff who make trustworthy, quality healthcare possible in our community, and keep our community healthy.

Treats are planned for staff, with each day themed for activities including “Outer Space Monday,” “Beach Day Tuesday,” “Wild West Wednesday,” “Taco Thursday,” and “Blue Jean Friday.” The theme of this year’s Nurses’ week celebration is You Make a Difference, and Hospital Week is We are Healthcare.

“I am so proud of how well our staff weathered the pandemic and took such excellent care of patients,” said Skip Gjolberg, President and CEO of WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital. “Now that we are putting that behind us, we can continue to grow and expand St. Joseph’s services to our community.”
