BUCKHANNON — Fred Brooks Garden Club members and Upshur County employees Greg Harris, Chris Alkire and Eric Poling were busy Thursday morning decorating the beautiful Norway Spruce with a peppermint candy theme. Club members completed the decoration just in time to welcome Santa Claus to our town with the annual Christmas parade.

This Christmas is a very special one for our town. JC Films is currently filming a new Christmas movie in Buckhannon and the surrounding area. “Hank’s Christmas Wish” is a story about a retired elf from the North Pole that had wanted to live a life of seclusion until several unrelentingly and cheery town folk help him regain his Christmas spirit. The film stars actor Dean Cain. Cain is best known for playing the role of Superman on the TV series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.”

The pine swags and arch on the courthouse annex and other city and county buildings were constructed by Fred Brooks Garden Club members with county maintenance workers hanging them. The theme this year is “An Old-Fashioned Christmas.” and garden club members created a number of ornaments to complement the theme. Special thanks go to Sally MIller-Collins for her creative talents in designing the tree.
