139 new cases of COVID-19 reported in West Virginia on Saturday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Saturday that 139 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 5 p.m. on July 18, 2020, there have been 226,616 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 4,922 total cases and 100 deaths,” according to a press release.

New cases were reported Saturday in Barbour, Berkeley, Boone, Braxton, Brooke, Cabell, Calhoun, Fayette, Hampshire, Harrison, Jefferson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Marshall, Mason, Mercer, Mineral, Mingo, Monongalia, Monroe, Morgan, Nicholas, Ohio, Pendleton, Preston, Putnam, Summers, Taylor, Wayne and Wood counties.

The number of active cases hit a new all-time high on Saturday. About 1,486 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 3,336 people have recovered and 100 have died.

Seventy-four state residents are currently hospitalized with the virus, according to the DHHR.
