Wesleyan announces amended fall academic calendar

Buckhannon, WV—West Virginia Wesleyan College has amended its academic calendar for the 2020 Fall Semester.  Wesleyan will start one week earlier in August and finish the semester before Thanksgiving.

Orientation for new students will be held on Saturday, August 15, and classes will begin on Monday, August 17.  The amended calendar eliminates the Labor Day recess and Fall Break and includes one Saturday day of instruction, August 29.

College officials amended the calendar in order to ensure the safety of the campus community and maintain the integrity of its academic programs.  The elimination of the Labor Day recess and Fall Break along with the addition of the special Saturday class day will provide students and faculty the same among of instructional days as the school’s longstanding calendar, while ensuring that students can return home for Thanksgiving.

Traditional events during Wesleyan’s Fall Semester such as Family Weekend and Homecoming are still being reviewed.  Wesleyan plans to make a final decision regarding those events in mid-July.
