Volleyball Lady Bucs to open with Oak Hill Thursday in South Regional Tournament

Buckhannon-Upshur, the South Region No. 8 seed, opens the double-elimination regional volleyball tournament Thursday against No. 9 Oak Hill at Cabell Midland, with the winner to play top-seeded Cabell Midland.

TENNERTON — The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission has released brackets for the regional volleyball tournaments. This is the second year for the four-class structure in volleyball. In a new format this year, sectional play has been eliminated in favor of double-elimination regional tournaments.

In Class AAAA, four teams will advance to the state tournament from each region.

Buckhanon-Upshur landed as the eighth seed in the South Region and will face Oak Hill, the ninth seed at Cabell Midland High School Thursday evening. The winner of that clash with face top seed Cabell Midland later that night.

The Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center will host the state tournament from Nov. 11-13.
