Upshur, Lewis, Barbour and Randolph counties all report new COVID-19 cases Tuesday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Tuesday that 358 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State, including five in Upshur County, six in Lewis County, five in Randolph County and three in Barbour County.

Eleven additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 86-year old male from Wood County, an 89-year old male from Wood County, a 62-year old male from Harrison County, an 81-year old male from Barbour County, a 63-year old female from Wetzel County, a 91-year old female from Randolph County, an 83-year old female from Cabell County, an 81-year old male from Jefferson County, an 80-year old female from Jefferson County, a 76-year old female from Jefferson County, and a 79-year old male from Jefferson County.

In Upshur County, three new probable cases and two confirmed cases were reported on Nov. 2. A total of 49 cases are currently active, and the county dropped to yellow on the daily alert map due to a lower positivity percentage.

Free testing events are scheduled throughout Upshur County all week.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 10 a.m., November 3, 2020, there have been 798,261 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 25,593 total cases and 469 deaths,” according to a press release.

New cases were reported Tuesday in Barbour, Berkeley, Boone, Braxton, Brooke, Cabell, Calhoun, Doddridge, Fayette, Grant, Greenbrier, Hampshire, Hancock, Hardy, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Marshall, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mineral, Mingo, Monongalia, Monroe, Morgan, Ohio, Pocahontas, Preston, Putnam, Raleigh, Randolph, Ritchie, Roane, Summers, Taylor, Tyler, Upshur, Wayne, Wetzel, Wirt, Wood and Wyoming counties.

About 5,507 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 19,617 people have recovered and 469 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.99%.
