Upshur County Sheriff: Man dies after slipping into Middle Fork River

Harold Feagans, 71, of St. Albans, died after slipping and falling into the Middle Fork River near Boy Scout Camp Road.

A man died Sunday after slipping into the Middle Fork River.

According to a press release from the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, Harold Feagans, 71, of St. Albans, “had gone to the riverbank, slipped and fallen into the river,” according to the release. He was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of 700 Boy Scout Camp Road, according to the release.

“The investigation of the cause of death is ongoing,” the release states.
