Upshur County FFA member selected for prestigious national program

Jaiden Fordyce

Jaiden Fordyce, a junior at Buckhannon-Upshur High School and the Upshur County FFA Reporter, has been selected to participate in the National FFA’s “FFA in the USA Reporter” program. This opportunity is designed for FFA members who are passionate about storytelling and promoting the achievements of their local chapters, communities and states on a national platform.

As a participant in the “FFA in the USA Reporter” program, Fordyce will receive guidance and training to enhance her skills in communicating and showcasing the spirit, successes and impact of FFA initiatives. Through this program, she will play a key role in bringing attention to the outstanding work done by FFA chapters across the country.

“I signed up for Agriculture class because I wanted to learn about plants. Two years later, I cannot believe all the opportunities that I have been given. It has challenged me to get out of my comfort zone and I have gained so many friendships and life experiences,” Fordyce said.

Fordyce is an active and dedicated member of the Upshur County FFA Chapter. She has demonstrated her talents in various competitions, including the regional creed speaking contest. Notably, Fordyce’s team achieved victory in the state Agriculture Communications contest, and she earned a silver medal at the national level in the same competition. Her achievements reflect her commitment to both personal growth and the advancement of her chapter.

This new role will allow Fordyce to further develop her communication skills while contributing to the promotion of FFA’s mission and values. Her selection for this program is a testament to her hard work, dedication and passion for agricultural education.

“I want to thank my Ag. Teacher for encouraging me to take all the opportunities given to me and my grandma for her love and support in everything I do,” Fordyce said.

The Upshur County FFA Chapter is proud of Fordyce’s accomplishments and looks forward to seeing her represent West Virginia in this national program.
