BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week we will select a male and female athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the football field, soccer field, volleyball court, golf course or the cross-country course.
Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of Oct. 9 – Oct. 15 are Jack Waggy and Samantha Shreve.
Waggy is a junior on the Buccaneer cross-country team. At the Big 10 Conference Championships last Thursday, Waggy led the Bucs with a third-place finish with a time of 17:49.66. With his finish, he earned Big 10 Conference First Team honors. His top three placement helped the Bucs to finish fourth overall out of 12 teams.
Shreve is a junior on the Lady Buc cross-country team. Shreve won the individual title in the Big 10 Conference Championships last Thursday at Robert C. Byrd High School. She finished with a winning time of 20:44.09, 25 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. By winning the race, she was named to the Big 10 Conference First Team. She helped the Lady Bucs to runner-up honors as a team.
Congratulations to Waggy and Shreve as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
