State Police seek information after travel plaza robbery

On Sunday, Dec. 27, at approximately 9:15 p.m., an Applegreen employee responsible for managing the West Virginia Parkways Authority, Beckley Travel Plaza reported a robbery, according to a press release from the W.Va. State Police.

The employee advised while she was outside of the travel plaza a male subject wearing a dark-colored ski mask, dark-colored hoodie, dark-colored sweatpants and carrying a duffle bag approached her and demanded the money from the ATM machine.

The employee complied with the suspect and provided an undisclosed large amount of currency. The suspect then departed the travel plaza on foot walking towards Harper Road (Route 3). The employee advised the suspect never displayed a weapon or threatened the employee.

This incident is being investigated by Cpl. B.D. Gillespie of the West Virginia State Police. Anyone with information pertaining to this incident please contact the West Virginia State Police Troop 7 Office at 304-256-6786. This investigation remains active and ongoing.
