So, you want to be a Strawberry Idol? WVSF announces two categories for singing contest with cash prizes

BUCKHANNON — The 79th annual West Virginia Strawberry Festival and Community Care of West Virginia are excited to present Strawberry Idol!

There will be two competition categories this year: youth 13 and under and adults 14 and up. The entry fee is $15 per person, and the competition will take place at the Upshur County Courthouse.

Cash prizes will be awarded in the Finals for the top three in each category, including a $500 prize for first place adult and $300 prize for first place youth. The competition gets underway with ‘Variety’ at 7 p.m. Friday, May 14 and 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15.

Finals will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 15.

Band of Brothers aims to raise $40,000 for charity projects with annual calendar sale

The Band of Brothers recently launched their annual calendar fundraiser, aiming to raise at least $40,000 to assist underprivileged children and elderly residents with home repairs. The $15 calendars feature Al Tucker’s West Virginia photos. Proceeds fund about 25 local programs.
