TENNERTON, W.Va. — The Buckhannon-Upshur High School girls basketball team beat Lincoln 62-56 Thursday in a game that was tight throughout.

Audrey Gaudet scored a team-high 18 points in the win, with Alli Robinson adding 12 and Brooklyn Maxwell 10. Shelby McDaniels and Leigh Ann Bennett each scored eight points and McKenzie Kittle contributed six to round out the B-U scoring.

Overall, the Lady Bucs shot 36 percent from the field, including 8-of-19 from behind the arc for a 42-percent conversion rate.

The Lady Bucs jumped out to a 35-29 lead at halftime, but Lincoln clawed back to within a single bucket at 48-46 by the end of the third.

B-U took the fourth period 14-10 to claim the 62-56 win.

The Lady Bucs hauled down 30 rebounds and nabbed 21 steals in the win.

Coach Rob Kittle’s squad got a respite over the weekend but will be back in action beginning Thursday when the Lady Bucs travel to the IOGA Classic at Glenville State University.

They’ve got one home game left before Christmas, a Dec. 21 clash against University. That game is set to tip off at 7:30 p.m., with the JV squad to play beforehand.

The B-U boys, meanwhile, lost a 101-52 decision at University on Friday evening. They’ll stay on the road for games at Lincoln on Tuesday and Morgantown on Friday before returning home to host North Marion on Dec. 18.
