Irish Road Bowling

Irish Road Bowling is set to make a return to Turkey Run this weekend, with participants gearing up for a unique sporting event, which involves hurling a small iron and steel cannonball the size of a baseball down a 1.5 mile country road, with the fewest throws from start to finish determining the score.

Similar to golf, participants take a running start and underhand throw the cannonball. The tournament draws participants from all over the state, with both seasoned veterans and beginners competing for the title.

The event will feature family fun team bowling on Saturday and Sunday, as well as a men’s and women’s qualifier for the WV State Championship on Sunday. Everyone is welcome – Novice 4 is for beginners.
