Center for Women’s Health at St. Joseph’s Hospital to celebrate National Midwifery Week

BUCKHANNON – The Center for Women’s Health at WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital will be recognizing its midwives during National Midwifery Week Oct. 1 through 7. It is a time for midwives and the women they serve to celebrate midwive’s contributions to women’s healthcare. This includes pregnancy, childbirth, gynecological health and reproductive health.

“Midwifery has been a part of St. Joseph’s for over 20 years now. Midwives provide caring, compassionate care to women of all ages, not just for pregnancy, labor and delivery,” Kimberly Farry, M.D. said. “They remind us that pregnancy is a normal, natural part of our reproductive life cycle that does not need intervention when all is going normal, and that the experience of health care has to be personal, meeting patient’s needs not only for their physical health but also for their spiritual health. Kathy, Amanda and Sarah do all of this in an exemplary manner. We are honored to work with them and support their care model.”
