GLENVILLE — Glenville State used an efficient shooting night and a balanced offensive attack to pull away in both halves, handing West Virginia Wesleyan a 99–74 setback Saturday afternoon in Mountain East Conference action at the Waco Center
The Bobcats stayed competitive early, trading baskets through the opening minutes before Glenville State began to establish control behind strong perimeter shooting and activity in transition. Wesleyan battled to the free-throw line in the first half and converted at a high rate, but the Pioneers shot nearly 57 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes to take a 51–35 advantage at the break.
Isaiah Baker led Wesleyan with 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting, attacking the paint and finishing through contact. Curtis Litton added 13 points, knocking down three triples, while Jerell Jean-Baptiste provided a spark off the bench with 15 points, going a perfect 8-for-8 at the foul line. Adrijus Janciauskas (eight points) and Stephen Ovia (six points, six rebounds) helped the Bobcats stay active inside, as Wesleyan scored 30 points in the paint for the game.
Glenville State continued to apply pressure after halftime, opening the second half with a quick run fueled by transition buckets and offensive rebounds. Wesleyan showed improved perimeter shooting in the second half, connecting on six three-pointers after intermission, but Glenville State answered consistently, stretching the margin behind 40.6 percent shooting from beyond the arc and a 52.7 percent mark overall.
The Pioneers placed seven players in double figures, led by Don Colon-Lewis and Callum Crossman with 16 points apiece. Prince Mosengo added 15 points and nine rebounds, while Elijah Redfern chipped in 11 points and 10 assists as Glenville State finished with 27 assists on 39 made field goals.
The Bobcats (0-13) travel to the University of Charleston for a 7:30 tip on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
