B-UHS Fine Arts Students of the Week: Dillon Peck and Lillian Fetty

Each week Buckhannon-Upshur High School features two Fine Arts Students of the Week to highlight the work students are doing in the art world.

Visual Arts Student of the Week: Dillon Peck

Grade: 12th

Student Organizations/Ensembles/Clubs/Arts Activities (in-school): I have attended Studio Arts 1, Photography, Ceramics 1 and 2, Stained Glass, and Drawing and Painting.

Student Extracurriculars Arts (Community): I love painting in my own free time and going around town taking photos of the beautiful sunsets

Student Accolades (Academic & Fine Arts): I truly feel honored to have been given this Artist of the Week reward. This reward has really help with my confidence of continuing art.

Favorite Roles/Pieces/Shows Performed/Etc: My favorite pieces are the oil painting of the eye and the charcoal drawings that we did of a photo and a Greek statue. Some of my other favorite pieces are from ceramic 1, which are a plate of Doritos with the Dorito bag and a Garfield mug. Also some new pieces are from my ceramic 2 class, where I’ve made a bust of Jesus, and I also love the pieces I’ve made in stained glass of a sunflower and a peacock feather.

Why are the arts important to you? Art is important to me because it gives me the freedom to create anything I can set my mind to, as well as how far my imagination goes. 

Future Plans: My future plans are to become a graphic designer, but I’m also going to continue painting and drawling to sell my pieces, and going to attempt at becoming a famous artists.

Student Extracurriculars Arts (Community): I take violin lessons with Allison Dravis.

Student Accolades (Academic & Fine Arts): Orchestra concert master, attended the Governor Honors Academy, 4.0 student

Favorite Roles/Pieces/Shows Performed/Etc: I especially like playing minuet in G, Danse Macabre, and Rainy Day

Why are the arts important to you? The arts serve as a powerful medium for connecting with people on a profound and emotional level. Art serves as a universal language that enriches the human experience.

Future Plans: I plan to go to college and get my masters in history, ultimately I would like to do historic conservation and preservation.
