Crise steps down as WVWC cross country/track & field head coach; Chidester-Deem named interim head coach

BUCKHANNON, W.Va.– Alan Crise has resigned from his duties as head coach of the cross country/track & field team, WVWC Athletic Director Randy Tenney announced Monday (Jan. 10).
 
“Wesleyan would like to thank Coach Crise for his diligent work and devoted time to the program,” Tenney said. “We wish him well in his future endeavors.”
 
Crise joined the coaching staff in 2017 before taking complete control of the program in 2019. He led the women’s track & field team to a runner-up finish at the MEC Outdoor Championships in all three seasons at the helm. In addition, Crise was awarded MEC Women’s Track & Field Co-Coach of the Year for his efforts during the 2021 season.
 
Crise groomed 16 All-MEC selections on the women’s side and coached the first individual conference champions in Tanner Falkiner (100-meter dash) and Oliver French (javelin) on the men’s side.
 
Andrea Chidester-Deem will take over duties as the interim head coach.

Chidester-Deem enters her third season with the WVWC track & field program. Chidester-Deem was a sprinter at Marshall University from 2014-2018. While at Marshall, she was a member of the 2017 distance medley relay team that broke the record at the historic Penn Relays.
