CANTON, Ohio — The West Virginia Wesleyan men’s and women’s swimming teams competed in a wide variety of relay races at the MEC/GMAC Relays hosted by Malone University inside C.T. Branin Natatorium on Saturday.

The WVWC women’s team finished fifth (third among Mountain East Conference programs) and the men’s team came in sixth place.

The Wesleyan women kicked off the event with a fifth place finish (3:21.07) in the 3X100 butterfly relay as Morgan Choffin, Morgan Bennet and Alienor Dalle. In the men’s 3X100 Butterfly, the Bobcat team of Marc Bennett, Jakob Bohland and Santiago De Stefano Cavazos registered a time of 2:55.62.

Hannah Cook, Amanda Schlor and Alayna Crane turned in a strong second place performance of 3:12.80 in the 3X100 Back Relay. Russ Sutton, Nick Gerosa and Devanand Kuttan teamed up for a 3:07.68 final time in the men’s 3X100 Back Relay.

Cook, Choffin, Dalle and Schlor paired up for a fifth place finish (8:42.24) in the 800-free relay. Dalle led the charge in the 500-free relay with Bennet, Alayna Crane and Zeinah Abdelsalam for a time of 5:12.99. In the men’s 500-free relay, Jackson Igo, Ben Esposito, Russ Sutton and Stephen Groves touched the wall in 5:20.90.

During the middle of the meet, Cook, Jennifer Williams, Dalle and Choffin finished the 400 medley relay in 4:30.86. The relay squad of Gerosa, Bennett, De Stefano Cavazos and Bohland took fifth place with a time of 3:58.77.

Up next for WVWC swimming is a dual meet at Salem on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m.
