Dominion, Create Buckhannon join forces for river access project

BUCKHANNON — Dominion Energy partnered with Create Buckhannon to complete an environmental revitalization project along the Buckhannon River in Hampton on Wednesday.

Employees worked to clean vegetation along the boat ramp, plant bulbs to add extra color this spring and cleaned ditches that were creating safety concerns on the road. This was Dominion Energy’s second restoration project at this site.

Buck Edwards with Create Buckhannon said that the series of work completed by Dominion Energy in this area was a huge boost to fulfilling the group’s desire to increase public use and appreciation for this natural resource.

“One of the biggest benefits from Dominion Energy’s involvement in this project is the transformation this has made in the Hampton community,” Edwards said. “This riverside spot has been changed from something that was an eye sore and safety concern into an amazing asset that the residents are proud of and welcome visitors to enjoy.”

Samantha Norris, spokesperson for Dominion Energy, said this is part of the company’s larger commitment to environmental projects along river’s with public access.
