WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of Rev. Johnmark Camenga, MDiv, CPE, as its new Staff Chaplain. Rev. Camenga will begin his new role on Monday, October 27, 2025.
Rev. Camenga brings over a decade of pastoral and chaplain ministry experience, most recently serving as Chaplain and Patient Advocate at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center. In that role, he provided patient and family visitation, spiritual care for staff and volunteers, neonatal grief care, and served on the hospital’s Ethics Committee
Ordained in 2012, Rev. Camenga has faithfully served in pastoral ministry for more than a decade, including leadership at Marshville Baptist Church and Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Church. In 2022, he transitioned into chaplaincy.
Beyond his professional ministry, Rev. Camenga has been active in denominational and community leadership, including serving as President of the Seventh Day Baptist General Conference in 2023–2024 and participating in multiple mission trips to East Africa
Rev. Camenga and his wife, of 25 years, chose West Virginia as their home due to its close proximity to family and the way the culture and values align with their own. Rev. Camenga’s wife is a teacher at Bridgeport High School and together, they are the proud parents of triplets—Cate, Eve, and Jonah—who graduated high school last year and are now pursuing college education and professional development.
Rev. Camenga is also a writer, publishing his first book in 2024, and enjoys playing guitar and woodworking. “The thing I like most about chaplaincy is being allowed to share in people’s lives—in both their struggles and their hope,” he said.
