West Virginia reports 987 active COVID-19 cases, one additional death on Monday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 987 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 12 since the last report on Friday.

Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (13), Barbour (1), Lewis (19), Randolph (11) and Webster (9) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of one active cases since Friday.

One additional death has been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 88-year old female from Berkeley County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 12, 2021, there have been 3,048,932 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 164,625 total cases and 2,909 deaths,” according to a press release.

The daily percent positive was 1.9%.

A total of 862,805 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.  That’s about 48% of the state.
