West Virginia reports 327 new COVID-19 cases, one death on Tuesday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Tuesday that 327 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (5), Barbour (1), Lewis (3), Randolph (5) and Webster (1) counties.

A total of 25 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.

One additional death has been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR, an 83-year old male from Wood County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of March 23, 2021, there have been 2,373,790 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 138,429 total cases and 2,613 total deaths,” according to a press release.

About 5,526 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 130,290 people have recovered and 2,613 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.46%.

A total of 270,281 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
