The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Saturday that 309 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.
Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (11), Barbour (3), Lewis (2), Randolph (6) and Webster (1) counties. A total of 100 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.
Six additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 83-year old female from Mercer County, a 61-year old female from Raleigh County, an 88-year old female from Cabell County, a 75-year old male from Gilmer County, an 87-year old female from Logan County, and a 60-year old male from Fayette County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of February 20, 2021, there have been 2,108,319 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 129,364 total cases and 2,254 total deaths,” according to a press release.
About 9,136 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 117,974 people have recovered and 2,254 have died. The daily percent positive was 2.96%.
A total of 163,208 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
