West Virginia reports 289 new COVID-19 cases on Monday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 289 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (1), Barbour (6), Lewis (1), Randolph (2) and Webster (4) counties.

A total of 25 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.

No additional deaths have been attributed to the disease in the last 24 hours, according to the DHHR.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of April 26, 2021, there have been 2,678,080 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 151,671 total cases and 2,821 total deaths,” according to a press release.

About 7,157 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active,141,693 people have recovered and 2,821 have died. The daily percent positive was 6.82%.

A total of 558,785 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
