West Virginia reports 2,817 active COVID cases, no new deaths on Tuesday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Tuesday that 2,817 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 81 since the last report. 

Locally, reported active case totals are: Upshur (56), Barbour (9), Lewis (27), Randolph (15) and Webster (22) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of six active cases in the last 24 hours. 

No additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR. 

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 12, 2022, there are currently 2,817 active COVID-19 cases statewide. There were no deaths reported to DHHR over the last 24 hours, and total deaths remain at 7,091 attributed to COVID-19,” according to a press release. 

About 312 residents are hospitalized with the virus, with 49 currently in intensive care and seven on a ventilator. The daily percent positive was 39.12%. 

About 55% of the state has been vaccinated for COVID-19.
