The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Friday that 2,297 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s an increase of 192 since the last report.
Locally, reported active case totals are: Upshur (42), Barbour (17), Lewis (19), Randolph (19) and Webster (13) counties. In Upshur County, that’s an increase of one active case in the last 24 hours.
No additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 1, 2022, there are currently 2,297 active COVID-19 cases statewide. There were no deaths reported to DHHR over the last 24 hours, and total deaths remain at 7,064 attributed to COVID-19,” according to a press release.
About 225 residents are hospitalized with the virus, with 30 currently in intensive care and five on a ventilator. The daily percent positive was 8.71%.
About 55% of the state has been vaccinated for COVID-19.
