Wesleyan volleyball drops road outings to Frostburg State and Fairmont State

FAIRMONT– The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat volleyball team dropped road outings to Frostburg State and Fairmont State on Friday and Saturday respectivley.

Wesleyan lost 3-1 to Frostburg State and 3-2 to Fairmont State, running their losing streak to six games.

Against Frostburg State, Wesleyan won a close set one, 25-23, but lost the final three sets. Wesleyan took the majority of team statistics in the match, but the hitting percentage was the difference with 19% for Wesleyan and 26.7% for Frostburg State.

Notable performers for Wesleyan included Bhrooke Axe, who led the team in kills with 13 as well as twoblocks defensively. Olivia Albrecht and Emily Denison would follow with 10 kills each. Denison led the team in blocks with four. Setter Helena Kelley recorded 32 assists followed by Jalynn West with 16. Libero Alexis Moeschler led the team in digs with 29 and recorded one serving ace.

Against Fairmont State, Wesleyan lost a close 3-2 match to the Falcons. The Lady Bobcats won sets one and three, with both sets with being highly competitive with a two-point scoring differential. The Falcons took sets two, four, and five.

Notable performers include Lisadarelyn Grassals, leading the Lady Bobcats with 11 kills on the day. Senior Jayla Cowherd recorded 10 kills. Bhrooke Axe had nine kills, two blocks, and six digs on the day. Helena Kelly recorded 27 assists. Libero Alexis Moeschler led the team with 21 digs and two aces.

The Lady Bobcats will play at the University of Charelston on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
