Volunteer honored with highest award from Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council is proud to present Kris Ward with the Black Diamond Pin, the council’s highest volunteer honor.

The Black Diamond Pin is reserved for adult members with at least six years of active service who have made significant contributions to the overall progress of council-wide goals and initiatives. Ward’s impact has been both broad and deep—enhancing programs, supporting volunteers and empowering girls across the region.

Over the years, Ward has played a crucial role in advancing the council’s mission through her leadership in product sales, volunteer training and girl leadership development.

As a longtime product chair, she helped ensure the success and sustainability of the Girl Scout Cookie and Fall Product Programs. Her efforts have directly supported troop funding and expanded access to transformative Girl Scout experiences.

Ward has also mentored and trained numerous troop leaders, strengthened local operations as a Service Unit Administrator and Treasurer and championed leadership opportunities for girls through program aide development and support for higher awards.

Beyond her local service, she has contributed to council progress by securing grant funding—including an Environmental Protection Agency grant and support for health education—while also leading statewide programs such as the State Fair badge initiative.

“Kris Ward exemplifies everything the Black Diamond Pin represents—dedication, vision and leadership that transforms communities and strengthens our council,” said Beth Casey, Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council. “Her service has created lasting impact for both girls and volunteers, and we are honored to recognize her with this prestigious award.”

Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council extends its heartfelt congratulations to Kris Ward and thanks her for her outstanding contributions to the Girl Scout movement.
