Upshur County Public Library announces 26th annual Ramp Dinner

BUCKHANNON — Come to the Upshur County Public Library’s 26th Annual Ramp Dinner, an Appalachian Extravaganza, from 5-7 p.m. on April 23, 2021, brought to you by the Upshur County Public Library in partnership with Fish Hawk Acres.

Chef Dale Hawkins of Fish Hawk Acres will be preparing the meal. This year is a little different because of COVID-19: Instead of a sit-down meal in the library, this will be a takeout-only event held at the Tennerton Elementary School in order to facilitate traffic flow.

This is a unique opportunity to sample the following gourmet ramp dishes. If you would like the non-ramp version of the meal, please specify when reserving your ticket, as mixing and matching will not be possible this year.

  • Fish Hawk Acres Signature Baked Ham (no ramps)
  • Stir fried vegetables (with and without ramps)
  • Gourmet mac & cheese (with and without ramps)
  • Potato & ramp soup (and soup without ramps)
  • Garden salad with fresh greens, tomatoes, cucumbers & carrots, served with dill buttermilk dressing
  • Dinner rolls with butter
  • Dessert includes both rustic apple pie with real whipped cream and mini ginger molasses cookies

Tickets are $25 a person and $12.50 for children under 12. All proceeds benefit the Upshur County Public Library. Advance reservations are required and will be accepted through April 17. Prepayment is preferred, or payment via exact change or check at time of pickup.

Reservations are accepted through EventBrite (see library website for exact link – upshurcounty.lib.wv.us), in person at the Circulation Desk or by calling the Library at 304-473-4219, extensions 10 or 14, during regular library hours. Library hours are 9:30 a.m. through 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. through 5 p.m. on Fridays, and 9:30 a.m. through 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

This culinary experience is available only once a year and has been a tradition in Upshur County since 1994. We are excited for this event to return, as with many things, COVID cancelled it last year. We have many wonderful ideas that will hopefully expand our services to Upshur County over the next few years, but need the continued support in return from our community to support our growth.
