The Upshur County FFA Chapter proudly hosted its annual banquet recently, an evening filled with celebration, recognition, and community pride. While FFA members were honored for their achievements and growth throughout the year, the highlight of the evening was the presentation of Honorary Chapter Degrees to three outstanding individuals: Mrs. Jessica Snyder, Mr. Coleton Payne and Mr. Derek Garrett.

These honorary degrees recognize their exceptional support, mentorship and dedication to the mission of agriculture education and the FFA. Their contribution has helped shape the success of students and strengthen the impact of the FFA program in Upshur County.

“Receiving this honor is truly humbling,” said Mrs. Jessica Snyder. “It’s been a privilege to support such a driven group of students, and seeing their passion for agriculture makes me excited for the future.”

Mr. Coleton Payne stated, “I’m deeply honored. Being part of the FFA community again, this time as an honoree, brings everything full circle. These students inspire me just as much as we aim to inspire them.”

“I am honored to receive the Honorary Chapter degree from Buckhannon-Upshur FFA Chapter.” Derek Garrett shared his excitement, as well. “FFA was a big part of my life growing up, and I feel privileged to get to help this chapter out where I can. It’s truly amazing to see what impact FFA has on these students, and I’m glad to give back and be a part of that.”

In addition to honoring these distinguished individuals, the banquet also celebrated the hard work and achievements of FFA members, the dedication of chapter advisors and the continued support from alumni and the wider community. It was an evening of heartfelt appreciation and encouragement for the future of agricultural leadership.

The Upshur County FFA Chapter remains committed to fostering leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. With community leaders and supporters like Snyder, Payne and Garrett, the future is bright for the next generation of FFA members.
