Two new cases of COVID-19 reported in Upshur County on Sunday

The number of cases of COVID-19 in Upshur County increased by two on Sunday to a total of 15, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.

The DHHR lists six of those cases as currently active.

Overall, 50 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in the Mountain State on Sunday, pushing the total past 2,800.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 5 p.m. on June 28, 2020, there have been 167,570 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 2,832 total cases and 93 deaths,” according to a press release.

New cases were reported Sunday in Berkeley, Braxton, Cabell, Fayette, Greenbrier, Hampshire, Harrison, Jefferson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Mercer, Monongalia, Ohio, Preston, Putnam, Raleigh, Summers, Upshur, Wayne and Wood counties.

About 630 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 2,109 people have recovered and 93 have died.
