Tractor accident results in fatality

TALLMANSVILLE — A Buckhannon man died following a tractor accident that occurred in the Tallmansville area late Wednesday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Buckhannon detachment of the West Virginia State Police, Gary L. Kimble, 65, died after the tractor he was operating rolled over on property at the intersection of Little Sand Run Road and Sandstone Hollow Road.

Investigating officers Cpl. T.A. Menendez and Cpl. V.J. Pyles with the WVSP were dispatched to the scene just after 4:30 p.m. When the officers arrived, Upshur EMS and firefighters with the Buckhannon Fire Department and Washington Volunteer Fire Company informed them one male was deceased.

“Mr. Kimble had been clearing a steep embankment behind a newly acquired/vacant house and adjacent property,” the release states. “The preliminary investigation suggests that the tractor Mr. Kimble was operating became stuck on the steep embankment, rolled one time and ejected Mr. Kimble.”

“Mr. Kimble became pinned by the tractor in a small stand of trees and did not survive the accident,” according to the release.
