This week’s Hank Ellis All-Stars: Liam Garcia and Kenna Maxwell

BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week we will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur that has had an exemplary week on the basketball court, the swimming pool or the wrestling mat.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of Jan. 23 – Jan. 29 are Liam Garcia and  Kenna Maxwell.

Garcia is a junior on the Buccaneer wrestling team. At the Brooke Classic last weekend, he took second place in the 120-pound weight class. Garcia earned a first-round bye, won a 10-0 major decision over Seneca Valley’s Natalie Tofanelli and then won a 6-4 decision over J.J. Dodt from Thomas Worthington. He lost a close 5-3 decision to Jacob Perry of Spring Mills in the title clash.

Maxwell is a junior on the Lady Buc basketball team. In a three-game week for Maxwell, she averaged 14.7 points and 3.0 assists in outings against University, Philip Barbour and Wheeling Park. She scored a team-high 18 points against University, 10 points versus Philip Barbour and then another team-high 16 points against Wheeling Park.

Congratulations to Garcia and Maxwell as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
