Soccer Lady Bucs have field day in 10-0 win over Lewis County

WESTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur soccer Lady Bucs had a field day at the expense of the Lewis County Minutemaids Thursday evening in a Big 10 Conference clash at Lewis County High School.

Cameron Zuliani led the Lady Bucs with four goals while Catherine Oliveto added three goals, Ashley Catlin two and Nina Mae Coberly one as the Lady Bucs downed the Minutemaids by a 10-0 score.

“We needed a win like that,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jackie Zuilani. “We played well.”

The Lady Bucs raced out to a 6-0 lead at the half.

Oliveto scored her first goal just four minutes into the game when she obtained the ball off a deflection and put it into the back of the net. Catlin was credited with the assist.

Six minutes later, Zuliani tallied her first goal with a shot to the far post after playing a ball from Catlin.

It was Catlin’s turn to score for B-U as she had the third goal after she played a cross by Oliveto and put it into the net in the 17th minute.

Chloe Cale played a ball into the center of the field to Zuliani who scored in the 19th minute giving the Lady Bucs a 4-0 lead.

Cale set up Nina Mae Coblery for the next goal as she scored with a shot from the right of the net in the 20th minute making it a 5-0 game.

Oliveto had her hat trick in the first half when she scored in the 29th minute when she dribbled down the right part of the field and found the back of the net with the assist going to Zuliani.

Zuliani picked up her hat trick in the second half in the 47th minute of the game when Oliveto played a through ball to her and she scored after taking a few dribbles into the box.

Catlin scored her second goal three minutes later after she played a ball from Cale in the 50th minute.

Zuliani collected her fourth goal of the game six minutes later after scoring on a through ball from Oliveto making it a 9-0 contest.

Oliveto wrapped up the scoring in the 59th minute after taking a throw-in from Zuliani and scoring from the 10.

The Lady Bucs owned a 24-1 margin in shots-on-goal and a 3-0 count in corner kicks. B-U keeper Kyndal Davis turned away the only shot she saw.

The win moved the Lady Bucs to 11-5-1 overall and 9-2 in the Big 10 Conference. The squad will return to action Saturday hosting University at 11 a.m.
