Robert “Bob” Ireland, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.
He was born July 29, 1939, in Hampton, WV, a son of the late John C. and Genieve Clark Ireland. On September 22, 1962, he married Frances “Frankie” Bias Ireland who preceded him in death on March 28, 2004.
He is survived by one son, John Ireland of Buckhannon; one daughter, Jenny Beer and husband Pete of Buckhannon; companion, Donis Martin of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Erin Smith and husband Chad of Buckhannon; one grandson, Ethan Beer and wife Stephanie of Buckhannon; four great-grandchildren, Christine Riffle, Gabriel and Gracie Beer and Chase Smith all of Buckhannon and one sister, Margaret Walls of Buckhannon.
Mr. Ireland was a WV History Teacher for the Upshur County School System and was a member of the Mt. Herman Church. He was always active in his church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School. He was an amazing father, grandfather and caregiver to his son.
Friends will be received Tuesday, June 4, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Holt Poling officiating. Burial will follow in Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon.
