Ralph Gene Black, age 87, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, June 21, 2024, at Stonehaven Home in Belington, WV.
He was born January 9, 1937, in Adrian, WV, a son of the late Rev. Glen and Lily Rachel Miller Black. On August 14, 1959, he married Janet Black who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence William Black and one sister, Madie Hamner.
He is survived by one son, Michael Black and wife Renate of Buckhannon; one daughter, Tammy Hawkins and husband Steve of Clarksburg, WV; two grandsons, Nicholas Hawkins and wife Letetia and David Hawkins and wife Brooke all of Buckhannon; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Waylon Hawkins both of Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Emma Hawkins of Buckhannon; one brother, Thomas Glen Black of Buckhannon; three sisters, Mary Tenney of Tallmansville, Lena (Sis) Keller of Buckhannon and Shirley Parker of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews and his companion, Sue Hinkle of Buckhannon.
Mr. Black had a deep love for his family. He had a passion for gardening, hunting, and fishing. He also retired from Moore Business Forms.
Friends will be received Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Tallmansville Baptist Church Cemetery in Tallmansville, WV.
