Naomi Ruth Golden, graced the world with her quiet strength, strong faith, and warm heart for 80 beautiful years before her passing on Saturday, May 24, 2025. She was a beacon of light to those fortunate enough to have known her and her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her loved ones.

She was born in Buckhannon on January 5, 1945, a daughter of the late John Marion Gaston and Stacie Flo Peters Gaston. With her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by two sons: Robert Lee Golden and John Glen Golden; one sister, Jean Lantz; two brothers: Pete Gaston and Frank Gaston; one grandson, Brandon Lee Starkey; and one great granddaughter, Arianna Maria Starkey.

Forever cherishing their memories of Naomi are two children: Florence Starkey and husband, Brian Sr., and Anna Mae Golden and companion, Jimmy Yoders, both of Buckhannon; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Naomi created a warm home filled with love, faith, and the sweet melodies of Country and Christian music. Her home was a haven for her family and friends, a place where everyone felt welcome and loved. Naomi’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and music; her spirit was a song that will continue to play in the hearts of those who loved her.

A devoted Christian by faith, Naomi was a steadfast believer in the power of love and compassion. She served as a homemaker, a role she cherished deeply. She created a home not just of bricks and mortar, but one filled with love, laughter, and warmth. Throughout her life, Naomi exemplified the quote, “The best portion of a good life – her unremembered acts of kindness and love.” These acts of kindness, her unwavering faith, and her love for music are the melodies that will continue to resonate in our hearts.
