Mountain CAP Family Support Center to host free bicycle and pedestrian safety event in Buckhannon

WVU Express offers qualifying seniors in Monongalia and Kanawha counties direct admission to the Morgantown Campus without an application or fee. The pilot aims to remove barriers and could expand to other West Virginia counties.

Buckhannon’s Sept. 14-18 calendar features public board and council meetings, curbside recycling and a free songwriters workshop. The CAC Gallery also continues “The Vital Actants” exhibit through Sept. 26.

Buckhannon residents are urged to report potholes to City Hall as crews begin fall patching. The city hopes to finish work by mid-October, before cold weather affects paving quality.

West Virginia Wesleyan twice erased a touchdown deficit, but Shippensburg scored the final 10 points to defeat the Bobcats 24-14 at Cebe Ross Field. Wesleyan fell to 1-2 and will open conference play at West Virginia State this weekend.

Buckhannon and Upshur County will host a FEMA flood recovery town hall Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m. at The Event Center at Brushy Fork. Residents can learn about assistance, resources and next steps, ask questions in person or submit them by email.

Pittsburgh Steelers chaplain and “Do It Afraid” author Kent Chevalier will speak on “Built to Last: What is Your Foundation?” Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in Wesley Chapel. The free public event will explore building an identity rooted beyond achievement and recognition.
