Davis Health System Foundation is pleased to announce the purchase of a new General Electric 1.5T 8-channel brain array coil for the Davis Medical Center Radiology Department.

Almost 1,900 MRI tests are performed at Davis Medical Center each year.  An MRI may be one of the most common imaging exams, yet it presents real challenges for many patients.  For patients with respiratory issues or neck injuries a regular MRI can be especially difficult or even dangerous.

Foundation Executive Director Mike Bell said, “As a regional healthcare leader, Davis Medical Center strives to provide imaging services to meet the needs of all our patients in an environment that is both comfortable and comforting.  The right equipment means you and your physician can count on the images to be top-quality for the most accurate results in diagnosis and treatment.”

The Foundation launched an on-line and direct mail campaign on #GivingTuesday to raise the $17,000 necessary to purchase a state-of-the-art, open-design MRI brain coil with an 8-coil brain array with stereotactic framing.  This equipment provides patients with a comfortable base, sliding coil, and supplemental head support while they receive high-definition MRI imaging of the brain.  Most importantly, it will reduce the travel burden and expense of having to go to another facility for needed diagnostic imaging.

Generous community donations and a special year-end gift from Mike Ross, Inc., mean that Davis Medical Center can look forward to offering a safe and efficient MRI experience for every patient.
