Men’s golf wraps up competition at Cal U Vulcan Invitational

BELLE VERNON, Pa. — The West Virginia Wesleyan men’s golf team competed in three 18-hole rounds at the Cal U Vulcan Invitational on Sept. 5-6 at Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon, Pa. The Bobcats placed 16th overall.

Two freshmen shot the lowest scores for the Bobcats at the Vulcan Invite. San Diego, Ca., native Alexis Abalos shot a 72 in his first round and finished with 228 total in the three-round event. Abalos sank 35 pars and three birdies. Davis Haynes completed his first collegiate tournament shooting a 231. Haynes shot had a 71 shot first round and made 32 pars and four birdies.

Dan Morgret shot a 241 total and led WVWC with five total birdies. Kyle Racich finished with a 254 and Matthew Allen shot a 260.

The West Virginia Wesleyan men’s golf team will be back in action on Sept. 13-14 at the Golden Eagle Invitational in Charleston, W.Va.
