Mary Ellen Ervin (Ellison)

Mary Ellen Ervin (Ellison), 70, passed away peacefully in her home on February 14, 2022.

Mary, daughter of the late George and Leona Ellison, was born in Buckhannon on June 29th, 1951. She graduated from high school in Manassas, VA and continued her education, receiving her certification in cosmetology. Mary was happily married to the late Willard (Bill) Ervin on February 12, 1994, with the couple sharing 15 joyous years of marriage.

Mary was the former owner and operator of “The Golden Razor” hair salon and “EZ Loan & Pawn” for more than a decade. She specialized in hair for nearly forty years, creating special bonds with each of her clients.

Upon retirement in 2017, Mary focused on the job she loved the most; being a Grandparent. Mary loved old country music, watching her “feel-good” shows, and bragging about her grandchildren. Mary was a great conversationalist, and always gave her honest opinion no matter the topic. Mary demonstrated patience, kindness, and empathy on a daily basis. She felt no greater joy than spending time with the people she loved.

Mary is survived by two daughters; Kelli Dean and husband Michael Dean, and Cindy Kotol, five grandchildren; Camron Dean, Jordan Dean and fiancé Kelsey Burgess, Tom Kotol III, Joseph Dean and wife Kayla Dean, and Payton Kotol, three great-grandchildren; Madilynn and Riley Dean, and Waylon Dean, two sisters; Patricia Mills and Joetta Burroughs, one brother; Ricky Ellison, as well as several nieces and nephews who called her “Nonnie”.

Mary was preceded in death by her late husband Willard Ervin., sister Vicky Harris, and brother Carl Ellison.

“Mary loved unconditionally and effortlessly. She was beyond selfless, honest in difficult times, and forgave without hesitation. She demonstrated daily her passion for the ones she loved. “Grammy” will forever be with us in our hearts, minds, and spirit.”

A memorial service will be held for family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
