The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Wednesday that 1,758 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s an increase of 102 since the last report.
Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (28), Barbour (16), Lewis (32), Randolph (11) and Webster (33) counties. In Upshur County, that’s an increase of three active cases in the last 24 hours.
Three additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 87-year old male from Webster County, an 87-year old female from Fayette County, and a 54-year old male from Logan County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 28, 2021, there have been 3,110,060 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 166,493 total cases and 2,939 deaths,” according to a press release.
The daily percent positive was 3.62%.
A total of 876,472 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said. That’s about 49% of the state.
