Local camera club announces Maple Syrup Festival exhibit winners

Camera Club Best of Show
Local judges selected this scenic roadway photo entitled “Dennison Road” by Dale Thomas of Frostburg, Md. as the Best of Show at the Maple Syrup Festival exhibit.

The Buckhannon Upshur Camera Club was pleased to participate in the 35th Annual Maple Syrup Festival held in Pickens. Club photographers displayed 140 photos to the multitude of guests who attended the festival.

Event chairpersons, Gary McCoy and Mike Juratovac, and club members wish to thank the festival committee and all the wonderful folks from near and far who toured the exhibit.

Local judges selected the Best of Show, a scenic roadway photo entitled “Dennison Road” by Dale Thomas of Frostburg, Md.

Nearly 900 ballots were cast for the People’s Choice ribbon which was awarded to Sandra Miller of Buckhannon.  Sandra’s photo,  “Glory in the Window”, charmed festival attendees.

Winner of the door prize drawing was Linda Lake of Hacker Valley.  Linda picked up a framed photo of the Glade Creek Grist Mill at Babcock State Park. Festival guest from Bolivar, Ohio, Vickie Wardell drew the winning entry.

This was an enjoyable event and club members hope to see several of our visitors there again next year.  Many thanks to folks who purchased photographs and in doing so, support our local amateur photographers.

The Buckhannon Upshur Camera club meets on the fourth Thursday evening of each month at the Upshur County Senior Center.  We welcome new members and guests!

The next photography exhibit sponsored by the club will be at the West Virginia Strawberry Festival in Buckhannon in mid-May.  For more information on how to participate in that upcoming contest, check out the festival website at www.wvstrawberryfestival.com. Deadline for entries is May 3.
