Linda Lou Thompson “Turtle” Hamner

Linda Lou Thompson “Turtle” Hamner, 77, of Tallmansville, left this Earth for the arms of the Lord on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Davis Medical Center in Elkins.

She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 30, 1942 a daughter of the late Leroy John and Mary Lucille Embleton Thompson.

Linda was a graduate of Linden-McKinley High School in Columbus, OH. As a single mom, she worked very hard to care for her family. Later in life, Linda’s thirst for knowledge became strong and she attended Central Ohio Technical College and received an Associate’s Degree in Business. With her degree she worked as a sales rep for Goldsmith-Black in Parkersburg, WV.

Linda’s faith was strong and she strived to share it with others, which she did at Truck Stop Ministries in Ohio. If Linda found a microphone then her beautiful voice would undoubtedly follow. She was a one woman band and travelled to nursing homes, prisons and family reunions to share the Lord’s word through song. While singing at her best friend’s family reunion in Ohio, Linda met her friend’s cousin, Dana “Frog” Hamner. Frog became the love of her life and she wanted to spend forever together. Linda made the move to West Virginia with Frog and together they attended Sago Baptist Church. Linda treasured her life with Frog and missed him immensely after his passing on August 31, 2016, but they have now been reunited to share eternity.

Cherishing their memories of Linda are two children: Shelly Krill of Buckhannon, W.Va., and Mark Little and wife, Debbie, of Houston, Texas; two step-children: Kim Myers and husband, Ralph, of Rutledge, Tenn., and Herbert “Herb” Wright of Frederick, Md.; six grandchildren: Heather, Justin, Garrett, Sierra, Channel and Jovan; three step-grandchildren: Jonathan, Jordan and Jessica; eleven great-grandchildren;; one brother, Ronnie “Toad” Thompson of Westerville, Ohio; two nieces; and one nephew.

Family and friends will gather at Tomblyn-Clutter Funeral and Cremation, located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in the Tomblyn-Clutter Funeral Chapel with Pastor Wease Day officiating. Interment will follow at Elbon Cemetery in Tallmansville.
